The patient undergoes a frontotemporal craniotomy exposing the optic nerves, lamina terminalis, and first section of the anterior cerebral artery (A1). To reach the tumor, the lamina terminalis is opened first lateral to medial with micro scissors. Then as this illustration depicts, the lamina terminalis is opened anterioposteriorly with a round knife to gain further exposure of the tumor (shown directly below the lamina terminalis).
